He "clings" to his mom. What do you cling to? Imagine yourself about to enter battle. You are putting your life on the line. Not knowing if you will live to see another ray of vibrant sunlight. What will you cling to then? You can't cling to money, cars, and clothes. Those things won't matter in the end. They won't be able to revive you when you get gunned down.
